PHL Embassy Officers and Staff Welcome Filipino Community at Blessing of New Chancery

14 March 2018 MEXICO – The Philippine Embassy in Mexico, led by Ambassador Eduardo Jose A. de Vega and joined by members of the Filipino community, celebrated International Women’s Day with a reception at the embassy, in an event that coincided with the blessing of the new chancery building.
The celebration commenced with a flag-raising ceremony and was followed by a special Mass in Tagalog, officiated by Father John Beñas, SVD. During his homily, Father Beñas expressed his appreciation to the Embassy team for their ethic of service to their clients and the Filipino community, which he witnessed when he visited the chancery for the first time. He also called the Embassy the “home for Filipinos abroad.”
After the Mass, the Embassy presented a video entitled “Celebrating Working Women,” featuring the lives of renowned women who had made significant advances in politics, economics, science, and other fields.
After the video presentation, Ambassador de Vega extolled the women of the Filipino community for their great role contribution to the nation and to society at large. Afterwards, Ambassador de Vega, together with Father Beñas, led the blessing of the chancery. The event concluded with a reception for all the invited guests. END
