PHL Embassy in Abu Dhabi Joins Family Fun Day of the Filipino Community
Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Constancio R. Vingno Jr., together with Madame Yoko Ramos-Vingno and son, Chase, are joined by officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy at the Family Fun Day of the Filipino community at Khalidiyah Park, Abu Dhabi.
15 March 2018 ABU DHABI – The Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi, together with the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Social Security System (SSS), and Pag-IBIG, joined the Filipino community’s Family Fun Day at the Khalidiyah Park, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) on March 09. The theme for this year’s celebration was “Filipino Family: Unity in Diversity, Building One Stronger Community.”
The event was organized by the Bayanihan Council, the umbrella organization of Filipino organizations accredited to the Philippine Embassy in Abu Dhabi. There are currently 67 organizations accredited with the Embassy.
Leaders and members of different Filipino organizations participated in the Zumba warm-up exercises, parade and street dancing, booth decorating contest, medical mission, and fun games. Filipino delicacies were also shared among the community.
Philippine Ambassador to the U.A.E. Constancio R. Vingno, Jr., in his speech, thanked the Bayanihan Council chaired by Engr. Jeffrey Uy, the various member--organizations, and different working committees spearheaded by the Society of Human Resource Professionals and Associates (SHRPA) and Event Chairman Jay-mar Ismael, for organizing this yearly tradition, in collaboration with the Embassy. He also thanked the sponsors and event partners for the support.
“Holding activities such as the Family Fun Day is about helping build a stronger, healthier, happier and more closely-knit Filipino community here in Abu Dhabi,” Ambassador Vingno said. He called on everyone to work together to foster harmony and advance community development.
Madame Yoko Ramos-Vingno, Chair of the Philippine Ladies Circle – Abu Dhabi, together with Abu Dhabi-based fashion designers Aldwin Jlo Ornopia and Jose Allen Villena, formed the panel of judges for the booth decorating competition participated by the different organizations.
The winners of the booth contest were the United Cebuanos (first place), OFW Global Movement for Empowerment (OFWGME) Abu Dhabi Chapter (second place), and the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) (third place). Prizes were also awarded to winners of the raffle draw and fun games. END
