PHL Ambassador to the United States Meets PH’s “Best Ambassadors” in New England

19 March 2018 NEW YORK – Philippine Ambassador to the United States (US) Jose Manuel G. Romualdez met with over 100 members of the Filipino-American Community in the New England Area at the VA Hospital Barsamian Auditorium in West Roxbury, Massachusetts on March 11.
In addressing the members of the community, Ambassador Romualdez praised their industry, commitment to excellence, their innate people-to-people skills, and their efforts to give back to the Philippines. He called the overseas Filipino Community “the Philippines’ best Ambassadors.”
He expressed the hope that more members of the Filipino Community would be engaged in programs which aim to further accelerate the level of representation of Filipinos and Filipino-Americans in mainstream US society. Ambassador Romualdez also called on the community to be involved through various platforms in the decision-making process in their respective communities.
Ambassador Romualdez shared with the community positive developments in the Philippines’ economic outlook, the decrease in the crime rate, the establishment of peace and order in Mindanao, the gains in the campaign against illegal drugs, and the Duterte Administration’s full commitment to providing a comfortable life for all Filipinos, including those based overseas.
The Ambassador likewise responded to questions from the audience on current developments in the Philippines, the Filipino Community’s concerns on US immigration policies, and how overseas Filipinos especially the next generation could contribute to building a better Philippines.
Ambassador Romualdez was joined by outgoing Consul General Theresa Dizon-De Vega who thanked the New England community for their constant support for the Consulate’s activities including the annual Consular Outreach Missions conducted in different areas of New England. Consul General Dizon-De Vega likewise announced the main details for the 2018 Ambassadors’ Tour which will take place in July and invited the New England community to join delegates from other states for the activity.
The Ambassador was in Massachusetts for official meetings and to support the Philippine Delegation to the Seafood Expo North America (SENA), the largest seafood trade show in North America, held at the Boston Convention Center from March 11 to 13. END
