PH Joins 9th Qatar International Food Festival
Philippine Ambassador to the State of Qatar Alan Timbayan leads the opening of the Philippine booths in the 2018 Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF).
22 March 2017 DOHA – The Philippine Embassy in Doha joins the 9th edition of the Qatar International Food Festival (QIFF) with the participation of the five (5) Philippine restaurants in the prestigious event which opened at the Sheraton Hotel Park on March 15.
The longest-running food event in Qatar, is organized annually by the Qatar Tourism Authority and will run from March 15-25. QIFF is a celebration of cultural diversity through various gastronomical experiences. This year, the event went much bigger with a total of 170 plus participating booths such as hotels and various local restaurant which showcase eastern and western culinary traditions.
The participating Philippine restaurants include Kulinarya-Qatar, Gerry's Grill, Jollibee, Mezza Filipino restaurant, and Inihaw Republik. Kulinarya-Qatar will also lead a Filipino theme night on March 21 which will feature cultural dance presentations and tourism promotion activities at the venue’s entertainment stage.
QIFF 2018 also features a big live cooking stage for live cooking demonstration of guest celebrity chefs from all over the world which aims to showcase culinary diversity. The grand opening ceremony on March 15 featured live cooking by Michelin Star Chef Wolfgang Puck and renowned US Iron Chef Masaharu Morimoto. Other celebrity chefs include US Master Chef Season 3 winner, Christine Ha and Chef Luis Rey ‘Niño’ Logarta from the Philippines among the 14 internationally-renowned chefs who will take to the stage in the next 2 weeks.
Chef Luis Rey ‘Niño’ Logarta took centerstage for 2 consecutive nights and presented the Filipino recipes: Crab Fat Fried Rice (Aligue rice) with Fresh Lump Crab Meat and Crispy Fried Squid and Chicken and Crab Meat Embutido with Roasted Capsicum sauce.
This year, there is a total of 177 participating stalls which include 17 hotels, 9 embassies and 6 food carts. END

Guest chef from the Philippines, Niño Logarta, performed a live cooking demonstration at the center stage live kitchen theater during the opening night of the event.
Five (5) Philippine booths including Philippine franchises, Gerry’s Grill and Jollibee, are participating in the 2-week event .
