PH Fashion and Flavors Showcase at the ASEAN Ladies’ Circle in The Hague
26 March 2018 THE HAGUE –Philippine Fashion and Flavors was featured at the coffee morning of the ASEAN Ladies’ Circle (ALC) organized by the Philippine Embassy on 09 March. The Philippine event was spearheaded by Mrs. Gina Ledda (seated 3rd from right), spouse of Ambassador Jaime Victor B. Ledda and was held at the official residence. Philippine Fashion and Flavors showcased the country’s Filipiniana wear in a “show and tell” that featured its various fabrics and materials in vibrant colors worn by the all women staff and family members of The Hague PE. A brief demonstration of the various ways of wearing the ‘’banaca” shawl immensely charmed all the ladies from the resident ASEAN Embassies in The Hague, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam that make up the ALC. Philippine dishes with a “twist”, e.g., nest potatoes stuffed with bistek Tagalog (of halal calf) prepared by Filipino-Dutch, Chef Irene Esquibil-Looze (foreground and left most in white shirt), paired with Philippine-made products - mango and calamansi drinks and coffee barako, were tastefully served after the brief show. ALC’s coffee morning event is a regular gathering that aims to strengthen camaraderie among its members, engage one another in and undertake activities that complement ASEAN’s promotion of the region’s rich culture and heritage, among others.
