27 March 2018 BUENOS AIRES — Twenty-one Filipino crew members of the Hung Shun No. 1, a ship that caught fire in the Atlantic Ocean on 24 February 2018, will be able to return home safely after they were issued Travel Documents by the Philippine Embassy in Buenos Aires.

The Filipinos arrived in Montevideo, Uruguay via the Tai Fu No. 3 on 17 March 2018. Despite their ordeal, they were in good spirits and in stable condition. Thirteen of them will arrive in the Philippines on 30 March 2018 while the remaining eight fishermen will arrive on 31 March 2018.

Mr. Daniel Urrestarazu of Oriental Shipping, the agency where the Filipino fishermen belongs, cited the Embassy’s quick action, and noted that its consular team was the first to arrive in Montevideo to provide ATN services.

In addition to assisting the crew members of the Hung Shun No.1, the Embassy’s consular team also serviced three Filipino workers of Hyundai Uruguay whose passports had been stolen, and issued a Travel Document to a Filipino seafarer with expired passport. END
