PH Joins Consular Corps in Lauding HK Police

28 March 2018 HONG KONG – Philippine Consulate General Antonio A. Morales joined the Consular Corps of the Hong Kong Special Autonomous Region (SAR) at the reception organized on March 09 by Police Commissioner Lo Wai-chung in recognizing the efforts made by the Hong Kong Police Force in maintaining law and order in the territory.
Commissioner Lo told some 100 diplomats from 80 countries at the Police Headquarters that overall crime figures dropped to 56,017 cases, a decrease of 4,629 cases or 7.6 per cent when compared with 2016. The figure was the lowest since 1975. The number of crimes per 100,000 population and the cases of violent crime also stood at the lowest since the 1970s.
Pledging to maintain law and order, Commissioner Lo reaffirmed that Hong Kong police are capable, confident and determined to protect life and property in the city. He also expressed his appreciation to the Consular Corps for their support and co-operation over the years.
In response, Argentine Consul General Gustavo Fazzari, acting in the capacity of Doyen of the Consular Corps, expressed his thanks for the police support to the diplomatic community and looked forward to working more closely with the police than before.
Also attending the reception were officials from the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and local government departments. END
