Natividad, Secretary Catalino Cuy of the Dangerous Drugs Board and Director General Aaron Aquino of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency meets Jeremy Douglas, Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for Southeast Asia and the Pacific

02 April 2018 VIENNA — On the sidelines of the 61st session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs, the Philippine Delegation co-headed by Secretary Catalino S. Cuy of the Dangerous Drugs Board and Ambassador and Permanent Representative Maria Cleofe R. Natividad met with Mr. Jeremy Douglas, Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for Southeast Asia and the Pacific on March 23.

During the discussions, Secretary Cuy provided Mr. Douglas a brief background on the community based treatment currently being implemented in the Philippines as a response to the overwhelming number of drug users who surrendered to the government. Mr. Douglas commended the Philippines’ efforts and offered the support and cooperation of UNODC through providing capacity building and technical assistance programs to the Government.

Mr. Douglas also expressed support for a possible Philippine side event at next year’s session of CND. END
