PHL Embassy in Abu Dhabi Attends the 23rd Annual Conference of the Emirates Center for Strategic Studies and Research

02 April 2018 ABU DHABI – Philippine Embassy representatives, Third Secretary and Vice Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daquipil and Attaché Meradel April E. Reyes-Auman, attended the 23rd Annual Conference of the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) held at the ECSSR office complex, Abu Dhabi on March 20-21.
The conference themed “Future Studies” was graced by Minister of Tolerance Sheikh Nahyan Mubarak Al Nahyan and Minister of State for Defence Affairs Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bowardi, and was attended by government officials, defense and military attaches, members of diplomatic corps, academics and experts, and students from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
H.E. Jamal S. Suwaidi, Ph.D., Director-General of the ECSSR, said that the center has organized annual conferences to discuss critical regional and international developments, examine their impacts on the UAE and other GCC countries, and possibly formulate creative policies to address them if necessary. He added that the center continuously exerts efforts to understand global issues, explore their future trajectories, and pays considerable attention to future studies across all fields. These efforts aim to serve the future vision of the UAE.
In his Keynote Speech delivered on the first day of the conference, Minister of Tolerance H.E. Sheikh Nahyan said that studying and planning for the future is key to the UAE’s development. The wisdom of the UAE’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed, has shaped and prepared the country and made it into one of the most progressive nations in the world. Following Sheikh Zayed’s wise leadership, the UAE’s leaders’ clear vision for a sustainable development, which includes human values and tolerance, will ensure success of the future.
The following were the four (4) panel discussions during the conference: Panel I: The Future of the Economy; Panel II: Future Studies and Medical Advances; Panel III: The Future of Politics and International Relations; and Panel IV: Future Technology. END
