PHL Consulate General Hosts Workshop on Cultural Understanding for OFWs in HK

03 April 2018 HONG KONGThe Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong and non-profit NGO WIMLER Foundation HK Ltd held a forum entitled “Understanding Hong Kong Culture” on at the Consulate March 18. This is the second workshop on cultural understanding since 2017.

Mr. Jayson Y. Ng, a popular blogger, public advocate and a regular columnist for South China Morning Post, discussed the differences of the Philippines and Hong Kong in terms of culture, tradition and values before some 50 OFWs.

Mr. Ng’s main message was that embracing cultural differences may reduce conflicts and can build a strong and harmonious relationship between domestic workers and employers.

Philippine Consul General in Hong Kong Antonio A. Morales thanked WIMLER Foundation Hong Kong for spearheading the event which benefits OFWs. He underscored that this is consistent with the Consulate’s objective to protect the rights and promote the welfare of the Filipinos overseas.

The next workshop for OFWs on cultural understanding will be held on 09 September 2018 at the Consulate. END
