PHL Consulate General in Dubai Partners with PHL Optometrists Society UAE for Free Eye Check Up Program for Filipinos in Need

03 April 2018 DUBAI – The Philippine Consul General in Dubai Paul Raymund Cortes and Dr. Yasmin Cortes, Spouse of the Consul General, collaborated with the Philippine Optometrists Society (POS) UAE to hold the first ever Free Eye Check-up Program for the Filipinos at the Consulate/POLO’s Migrant Workers and Overseas Filipinos Resource Center (MWOFRC). Some 200 clients availed of the free refraction services and around 90 were provided free prescription glasses.

The Consul General commended the POS UAE for this service, noting that this was the first ever mission conducted by optometrists. Just recently, Consul General Cortes and Dr. Cortes, adviser to the group, led the launch of the POS UAE, making it the first association of optometrists in the UAE. He thanked the optometrists for lending their services for the benefit of our fellow Filipinos in distress.

The Consulate maintains close relations with the various professional organizations in Dubai such as the Philippine Healthcare Professionals Dubai, the many engineering associations, the United Architects of the Philippines Dubai Chapter, PICPA, and many others as a strategy to reach out to our skilled migrants and encourage them to play more aggressive roles in our nation-building process.
