Filipino Centenarian Files for Incentives Under the Filipino Centenarians Act

Filipino Centenarian Irene Atayde

03 April 2018 SAN FRANCISCO – Filipino Centenarian Irene Vicente Atayde, who was born on December 17, 1911 in San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija, filed her application for the availment of awards and incentives for overseas Filipino centenarians under R.A. 10868 (An Act Honoring and Granting Additional Benefits and Privileges to Filipino Centenarians).

Ms. Atayde, who celebrated her 106th birthday on December 17, 2017 migrated to the United States in 1979 and became a naturalized US citizen on August 13, 1997. In 2016, she applied for reacquisition of her Filipino citizenship during a consular outreach in Seattle, Washington, as one of the oldest natural-born Filipinos who re-acquired her Philippine citizenship through R.A. 9225 (Citizenship Retention and Re-Acquisition Act of 2003) at the age of 104. She remains vibrant and healthy.

Her application for awards and incentives for overseas Filipino centenarians will be forwarded to the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) in the Philippines. END
