PHL Consulate General in Dubai Meets with Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), Community Development Authority (CDA)

Philippine Consul General in Dubai Paul Raymund Cortes met with Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Director General of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) on March 29, where among the topics discuessed include the new K-12 proram in the Philippine schools in Dubai, the accreditation process for new educational institutions, the standards used in assessment of these istitutions, and possible tie ups with the Philippine Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). The visit hoped to build ties between the Consulate and the KHDA. There are 2 schools in Dubai following the Philippine curriculum, The Philippine School (TPS) and the United International Private School (UIPS), while Sharjah is host to three - Far Eastern Private School, New Filipino Private School, and Al Alfiya Private School.

Consul General Cortes met its Director General of Dubai’s Community Development Authority (CDA), Ahmad Abdul Kareem Julfar, at the CDA’s Headquarters on March 28 and discussed the many activities of the Filipino Community in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. Director General Julfar said that his office would be most willing to assist the community in their accreditation process as he believes that the Filipinos are one of the most active in terms of staging activities and programs. The CDA is responsible for implementing and managing a social development system to regulate and license all social and community organizations in Dubai. The Government aims to manage a well-developed structure to ensure social welfare and quality services for the general public.
