Friends Bid Farewell to Deceased Moscow-Based OFW

04 April 2018 MOSCOW – The Philippine Embassy in Moscow, Russian Federation facilitated the speedy shipment to the Philippines of the remains of a 40-year-old female OFW who died after suffering a stroke on March 19. The OFW’s remains and personal belongings departed Moscow on March 23 and arrived in Manila on March 24.
The Department of Foreign Affairs, through the Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs, provided the funding for the shipment from Moscow to Manila. The Provincial Government of Benguet provided assistance to the family in retrieving the remains from the Manila International Airport and bringing her to their hometown in the North.
“We understand that the families of deceased OFWs need to be directly updated of developments in cases like this. We honor our departed kababayans by bringing them home as quickly as possible,” Ambassador Carlos D. Sorreta said. “We are grateful for the close coordination with the DFA, including our Regional Office in Baguio, and the Benguet Governor’s Office for the tremendous support,” he added. END
