04 April 2018 VIENNA – Philippine Ambassador to Austria Maria Cleofe R. Natividad celebrated Women’s Month with the all-female organization, Babaylan Austria, by inducting its new set of officers on March 24.
During the simple lunch fare, Babaylan, as it is fondly called, discussed with the Ambassador their plans for the year which included their annual Masquerade Ball, the proceeds of which will be donated to a Philippine-based charity. Babaylan is a member of the Council of Filipino Associations in Austria (CFAA).
Ambassador Natividad was quick to recognize the efforts of the group as an all-female organization, and the challenges that they face given the nature of their organization. However, she reminded them that women are the bedrock of development; and encouraged them to continue on their path and to stay motivated and inspired.
The Ambassador assured Babaylan of the Embassy’s support and also solicited their inputs on Embassy-initiated projects. Incidentally, the current president of Babaylan, Ms Imelda Papai, partnered with the Embassy in the just-concluded and successful Gender and Development skills training activity. END
