PHL Embassy in Warsaw Marks Int’l Women’s Month; Conducts Consultation Session, OAV Registration for Filipinos

06 April 2018 WARSAW – The Philippine Embassy in Warsaw, Poland marked International Women’s Month and conducted its Sunday consultation session on employment-related concerns for OFWs dubbed Kabayan, Idulog mo sa Embassy, as well as overseas voting registration for Filipinos overseas, during its monthly pulong-bayan (community meeting) which was held at the chancery on March 25.
Cultural Officer and Gender and Development (GAD) Officer Ms. Imelda de Joya delivered a short lecture on how to empower rural women and girls. She showed the audience a video-documentary entitled Kababaihan ng Rebolusyon produced by the Philippines’ National Historical Commission (NHCP).
The documentary featured Filipino women patriots such as Gabriela Silang, Melchora Aquino, Agueda Kahabagan, Patrocinio Gamboa, Teresa Magbanua, Clemencia Lopez, and Gregoria de Jesus. These women exemplified the virtues of patience, hope, courage, and willingness to sacrifice one’s life for love of country.
Political Officer Mr. Ramon Ebalo reminded the members of the Filipino community about the ongoing registration for overseas absentee voting (OAV) for the May 2019 elections. The OAV registration will end on 30 September 2018. Mr. Jose Magaso manned the OAV registration table during the community meeting.
Consul Alnee Gamble conducted the Sunday consultation session for OFWs under the Embassy’s Kabayan, Idulog mo sa Embassy program and had a Q & A session with them.END
