International Civil Servants in Vienna Raise Funds for Victims of Mount Mayon

VIENNA MAYON 1

Philippine Ambassador to Austria Maria Cleofe R. Natividad poses for posterity with members of the Vienna International Center Club Filipino

06 April 2018 VIENNA – The Vienna International Center (VIC), which houses the United Nations Office in Vienna and other international organizations, became the venue for international civil servants to come together for a good cause—to raise funds for the victims of the eruption of Mount Mayon.

The event was hosted by the VIC Club Filipino (VIC CF), whose members are all employed under the offices at the VIC.  Their colleagues and friends were in full support of the charity dinner, where funds were raised through a dinner buffet featuring Filipino cuisine.

Philippine Ambassador to Austria Maria Cleofe R. Natividad proudly supported the event. In her keynote speech, she congratulated the VIC CF’s initiative in organizing the fund raiser, and pointed out that as international civil servants, the group is in a position to better understand the extraordinary efforts undertaken by inter-governmental and international organizations towards disaster relief. The charity dinner was also an opportunity for Ambassador Natividad to meet the Filipinos working at the VIC. She enjoined them to partner with the Embassy’s advocacy to meet the country’s development goals and to uplift the lives of the Filipinos.

She also called on all the Filipino organizations to partner with the Embassy in its vision to become a center of science diplomacy and to strengthen partnerships in bilateral and multilateral fora in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

The Council of Filipino Associations in Austria (CFAA), Bikol Society in Austria (BSA) and the Filipino Catholic Chaplaincy (FCC) assisted the VIC CF and pledged their donations to support the cause. END
