PHL Embassy in The Netherlands Briefs Filcom Leaders on 2017 Accomplishments and Upcoming 2018 Activities

06 April 2018 THE HAGUE – The Philippine Embassy in The Hague conducted its 1st Semi-Annual Meeting for the year with leaders of 23 Filipino Community (FilCom) organizations in the Netherlands on March 22.
Philippine Ambassador to The Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda presented the highlights of The Hague PE’s accomplishments in 2017 such as the Philippine chairmanship of the ASEAN Committee in the Hague (ACTH) which undertook activities in conjunction with the Philippines’ Chairmanship of ASEAN 2017; major strides in Philippines-The Netherlands bilateral cooperation; the success of the European tour of Kulinarya, A guide to Philippine cuisine, flagship project of OUIER-DFA by top Filipino chefs led by Myrna Segismundo in both its cooking demo and curated dinner on Filipino traditional cuisine; the concert by PH’s foremost piano virtuoso, Prof. Raul Sunico; and the First ASEAN Film Festival.
The Embassy’s consular and assistance-to-nationals team was lauded for their efforts in the repatriation of 17 Filipino nationals from the Dutch Caribbean island of Sint Maarten who were affected by category 5 hurricane Irma.
The FilCom leaders were also given a preview of upcoming Embassy activities for 2018, such as the Independence Day-related activities, consular outreach missions, legal clinic and were likewise informed of projects and events undertaken for the first quarter of 2018 as the GAD seminar on the occasion of “National Women’s Month,” support to Philippine films at the “International Film Festival in Rotterdam” and PH tourism efforts at NL’s biggest travel fair, Vakantiebeurs in Utrecht.
The next meeting with FilCom Leaders is scheduled this October. END
