Catholic Diocese in Xiamen Marks Groundbreaking of New Cathedral in Xiamen

06 April 2018 XIAMEN — Consul General Julius Caesar A. Flores attended the groundbreaking ceremony of the cornerstone laying rites of the new Catholic Cathedral complex located at No. 15 Ci’an Road, Siming District, Xiamen City on March 12.
The event was celebrated with a special mass officiated by Bishop Joseph Cai Bingrui, Diocese of Xiamen who expressed gratitude to 400 local and foreign Catholic devotees who witnessed the groundbreaking event.
Former Ambassador to the Holy See, Hon. Mercedes A. Tuason, led a delegation of Filipino-Chinese Catholic and devotees from the Philippines who expressed support for the construction of the new Cathedral complex.
The new complex highlights the heritage architecture of the 19th century Dominican monastery and church located in Xiamen’s tourist district. END
