PH, Qatar Discuss Cooperation in Education

06 April 2018 DOHA — Philippine Ambassador to Qatar Alan L. Timbayan met with Dr. Mohammed Bin Abdul Wahed Al-Hammadi, Qatar's Minister of Education and Higher Education, on April 03, to discuss matters related to education cooperation.
During the meeting, Minister Al-Hammadi reaffirmed Qatar's interest in signing the MOU on Cooperation in the Field of Education. He also conveyed the readiness of the Qatar government to provide assistance in the opening of another Philippine school in order to address the educational needs of Filipino children in Qatar. He mentioned that the Qatar government is ready to donate a parcel of land for the building of another Philippine school provided that a private business partner is willing to invest in the school.
Minister Al Hammadi also welcomed the interest of University of the Philippines to open a satellite campus in Qatar which will encourage the Filipino students to stay in Qatar to complete their studies.
Qatar also praised the Philippines’ expertise in technical vocational education and training and expressed interest in pursuing exchanges of expertise and best practices. END
