Family members and close friends alike recalled the kindness, dedication and sincerity of the late Consul General Raul Santiago. He was the head of the Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt until it ceased operations on July 31, 2012.  Mr. Santiago entered the Philippine foreign service in 1994 and had been assigned at the Philippine embassies in Vienna and Paris before he opened the Philippine Consulate in Frankfurt in March 2009. In her remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Germany Maria Cleofe Natividad described the late Consul General Santiago as “one of the finest and most dedicated officers of the Philippine foreign service.”

While in Frankfurt, a team composed of Ms. Loredanna Hess, Ms. Melinda Hernais, Ms. Rowena Adaya and Mr. Armand Mahinay conducted a consular outreach at Brentanostrasse, Frankfurt am Main on November 23 in cooperation with the Office of the Honorary Consular Officer in Frankfurt.

The mobile outreach is part of the Philippine Embassy’s efforts to bring its consular services closer to Filipinos residing in different parts of Germany.  This was the second mobile outreach in Frankfurt for the year, with the first one held last March 16 at the St. Ignatius Church.  A total of 30 e-passport applications and 10 assorted notarials, certifications and civil registry applications were processed during the half-day event.

The Embassy had so far conducted a total of six consular mobile outreach in Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart and Essen.  END
