11 April 2018 PHNOM PENH — The Philippine Embassy in Cambodia joined other ASEAN embassies, and the embassies of China, Republic of Korea and Japan in the ASEAN Plus Three Festival 2018 at the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP) on 01 April.

Organized by the RUPP’s Institute of Foreign Languages, the festival showcased the 13 countries' rich heritage through cultural performances, traditional games, traditional instruments, fun quiz, documentaries, food, and products.

The Philippines’ country exhibition booth showcased Philippine handicrafts, fabrics, pearl accessories, as well as Philippine products available in Cambodia such as Liwayway (Rinbee) snack foods and Unilab Pharma’s PH Care, Decolgen, and Alaxan.  As in previous cultural festivals participated in by the Embassy, its sorbetero cart became a point of interest and curiosity among the festival-goers.

Filipino restaurants and caterers joined the event and sold Filipinos dishes and delicacies such as chicken inasal, chicharon, ube halaya, puto, kuchinta, biko, bilo-bilo, and leche flan.

During the ASEAN+Plus Three cultural performances, Phnom Penh-based Filipino teachers   Myra Bangad, Shalimar Collado, and Chris Obra played a medley of Filipino folk songs on banduria and ukulele. Ms. Bangad and Ms. Collado also sang the folk song “Lulay” while six RUPP students danced.

The ASEAN Plus Three Festival was a fun-filled and educational treat to participants and visitors alike. END
