11 April 2018 SANTIAGO – The Philippine Embassy in Chile completed four months of successfully chairing the ASEAN Committee in Santiago (ACS), and officially handed over the chairmanship of the group to the Embassy of Thailand on 10 April 2018. The turnover ceremony was held at the Hotel Regal Pacific in Metropolitan Santiago.
The Philippines served as ACS Chair from December 2017 to March 2018. The Philippines’s four-month Chairmanship was full of political, economic, socio-cultural and sports activities such as the ASEAN Community Family Day, the ASEAN Ladies’ Breakfast Meeting, the Harvesting Activity at Takii Farm Chile, the Breakfast Meeting and Consultations with the Non-Resident Embassy of Brunei, the ASEAN Bowling Tournament, and the ACS Meeting with the Santiago Chamber of Commerce.
During the turnover ceremony, Philippine Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., Marcos A.S. Punsalang conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the Heads of Mission and Technical Working Group Members of the ACS for their invaluable support and active participation—both in their official and personal capacities—during the Philippine chairmanship.
