HK-concert in the park1

09 December 2013 - The Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong in partnership with the Hong Kong Musicians Union (HKMU) and the Hong Kong Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) staged the 2013 Concert in the Park on December 01 at the Hong Kong Cultural Center Piazza C.

Entitled “Rock, Rhythm, Fusion”, the Concert in the Park featured nine (9) bands including the Draybers, led by The Voice-PhilippinesHK-concert in the park2 winner, Mitoy Yonting, which opened the concert to the delight of more than 2,500 attendees. 

The eight other bands were Soul Trader, Soul Session, D’ Band, Blinks and Studs, Culprits, Tough Cold Rice, Rapunzel and Azucar Latino Band.  They are composed of Filipino musicians based in Hong Kong, as well as local Hong Kong musicians and band members from France, Romania, Japan, China, Portugal, Brazil and Cuba.  The audience danced to the bands’ songs which ranged from Filipino rock and rap music to soul and Elvis songs.

Hong Kong-based Filipino radio personalities Michael Vincent, Jun Paragas and Jay Martinez served as emcees for the event.  

The concert was supported by Genting Hong Kong Limited, URC Hong Kong Co. Ltd, Barkadahan sa Smartone, Pinoy Tayo SanMan, Prime Credit, Social Security System, Mr. & Mrs. Rubin Benny Dollano, AFREIGHT (asia Pacific) Limited, Gen-Ex Cargo, LBC Mabuhay HK Ltd., Jollibee Hong Kong Central, BDO Remit Limited, BPI Remittance Centre (HK) Ltd., Metro Remittance (Hong Kong) Limited, Philippine National Bank, 1 Ganap Guardians - Falcon HK Chapter and Pinoyshots Photography Club HK.

The Concert in the Park is one of the Philippine Consulate General’s activities under the 2012-2013 Philippines-China Years of Friendly Exchanges which aims to strengthen cultural exchange through arts and music.  END
