PH Consulate General in Jeddah, Yanbu Filipino Community Rescue an Attempted Rape Victim
ATN Case Officer Mary Ann A. Hipe prepares the victim for endorsement to the Bahay Kalinga.
JEDDAH 23 April 2018 – A female attempted rape victim arrived at the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah on 17 April after she managed to leave her employer’s house two days ago.
The distressed worker claimed being constantly sexually harassed by her employer. Members of the Filipino community coordinated with the Philippine Consulate on how to properly handle her case. They provided her with temporary shelter until she was turned over to the Consulate today.
This is a perfect example of how close coordination between the Consulate and the Filipino community could save the lives of distressed workers and facilitate the resolution of their concerns. END
