PH Embassy in Oslo Betters Service, Expands Consular Section
DFA Undersecretary Enrique A. Manalo and Philippine Ambassador to Norway Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia officially open the new receiving area of the Consular Section at the Philippine Embassy in Oslo, Norway on 13 April 2018.
OSLO 24 April 2018 — To better serve the more than 50,000 Filipinos in all Nordic countries of Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Sweden, the Philippine Embassy in Oslo expanded its Consular Section on 13 April, and opened its new Receiving Wing for all consular services applicants, at the 5th Floor of the Nedre Vollgate 4, 0158 Oslo, Norway.
Ambassador to Norway Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia, and Deputy Chief of Mission and Consul-General Maria Elena P. Algabre formally opened the Receiving Wing of the Consular Section, with Undersecretary Enrique A. Manalo of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and Undersecretary Astravel Pimentel Naik of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas as guests of honor.
Gracing the event were DFA Assistant Secretary Bayani Mercado, who also served as Ambassador of the Philippine Embassy in Oslo; Ms. Elizabeth Wemberg, Senior Adviser, Consular Section of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Father Jose Johan Dumandan of St Olav’s Catholic Church; leaders of the different Filipino community organizations in Oslo; and friends of the Embassy.
The expansion of the Embassy’s Consular Section is a project of former Ambassador Bayani S. Mercado, former Consul-General Charmaine Rowena C. Aviquivil, and Consul-General Maria P. Elena Algabre. END
