VIENTIANE 26 April 2018 — The Philippine Embassy in Vientiane, in cooperation with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP), organized the Sentro Rizal Film Screening of the Filipino movies Ano ang Kulay ng Nakalimutang Pangarap and Anac Ti Pating. A total of twenty-eight (28) Filipinos attended the film showing at the Embassy premises on 07 April 2018.

Ano ang Kulay ng Nakalimutang Pangarap is a drama directed by Jose Javier Reyes about Filipino expatriate siblings trying to move on with their lives after the death of their mother. Their choices, such as the distribution/sale of their family properties in the Philippines, also affected the people around them, particularly their housekeeper who has worked for the family for decades and had sacrificed her dreams and happiness for the family. On the other hand, Ilocano film Anac Ti Pating, a comedy-drama by Director Martin Masaao elicited laughs from the attendees. The film follows Sixto, an intelligent elementary school student, who had to contend with bullying at school and his alcoholic father at home. For a school assignment, he decided to write about a shark who lived in the woods of Baguio, mirroring his life as an outcast.

The Embassy served free-flowing refreshments and popcorn from Senglao Café to allow the attendees to have the full cinematic experience during the event.

The purpose of the Sentro Rizal Film Showing was to provide an opportunity for Filipinos to watch Philippine films in Vientiane. The Embassy’s Sentro Rizal program aims to keep Filipinos in touch with their roots and strengthen their ties with the Philippines through lectures and activities, such as film screenings. END
