Philippine Ambassador Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro and members of the Embassy with the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) Geneva representatives interact with the Filipino Community volunteers and OWWA registration applicants.
PARIS 30 April 2018 – 234 Filipino migrant workers now have added social protection after successfully registering during the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Serbis sa Paris on 22 April.
According to Labor Attaché Delmer R. Cruz from Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) Geneva, “by being members of OWWA, Filipino migrant workers and their families are given access to social protection, education and skills training, entrepreneurship and reintegration preparedness.”
The outreach mission also highlighted one of the core goals of the Philippine Embassy in Paris which is to assist Filipino migrant workers and promote their well-being. This was expressed succinctly by Philippine Ambassador to France Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, when she said that “the OWWA Outreach Mission is part of the Embassy’s commitment to address the needs of the Filipino migrant workers abroad and assist them in attaining a good life.”
Materials on PAG-IBIG services, OWWA programs and services and FAQs on the Embassy’s Consular Services were likewise distributed during the event. Participants came from various member organizations of the Comité Générale des Associations Philippine en France (CGAPF).
The event also showed the importance of the one country-team approach, with the collaboration of the Philippine Embassy in Paris, POLO Geneva, and OWWA. END
