Consulate General Lauds Filipina-Canadian Women Advocacies
Deputy Consul General Zaldy Patron joining the officers and members of Babae: Council of Filipina-Canadian Women during its 2018 Annual General Meeting on 23 April 2018. He also lauded the advocacies of Babae and called on the organization to continue conducting activities beneficial to the Filipino Canadian community and talked about the various services and upcoming projects of the Philippine Consulate General.
CALGARY 30 April 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Calgary graced the 2018 Annual General Meeting of women’s group Babae: Council of Filipina-Canadian Women held at the Centre for Newcomers in Northeast Calgary on 21 April.
Babae, now on its 15th year, conducts projects and activities to nurture and empower Filipino Canadian women. It has active partnership with various immigrant serving agencies like Calgary Catholic Immigration Society (CCIS), Immigrant Services Calgary (ISC), Calgary Immigrant Women's Association (CIWA) and the Centre for Newcomers. It also collaborates with Action Dignity.
In October 2017, Babae completed a program to teach the Seniors how to use social media, like Facebook and Viber. It will start a new project to develop the Seniors’ creative skills in painting, sewing, knitting and jewelry-making. END
