PH Ambassador Confers with Honorary Consul, Leads Consular Outreach in Serbia

BELGRADE 05 May 2018 – Philippine Ambassador to Hungary Maria Fe T. Pangilinan travelled to Belgrade on 12 to 14 April to confer with the new Philippine Honorary Consul in Serbia, view the proposed location of the Honorary Consulate, and lead the Embassy team in its annual consular outreach for Filipinos in the country.

The Ambassador discussed with Honorary Consul Dragijana Radonjic Petrovic possible activities that can be done as she starts her official work following receipt of her exequatur. Ms. Petrovic was appointed by DFA Secretary Alan Peter S. Cayetano on 01 July 2017, and was given her exequatur by the Serbian government on 28 March 2018.

On 14 April, the Embassy team, which included Consul Jose Garcia III, Mr. Eulogio Comaya, and Mr. Antonio Nalda, conducted mobile consular services and were able to process 15 applications for new issuance/ renewal of passports, 9 registrations of birth/ marriage, and 9 legalizations of various documents. There are currently 76 Filipinos in Serbia.

During the consular outreach event, Ambassador Pangilinan introduced Honorary Consul Petrovic and Consul Garcia to some members of the Filipino community in Serbia.

Ambassador Pangilinan also inspected the proposed office where the Philippine Honorary Consulate will be located. The proposed office is situated in a prominent commercial establishment in New Belgrade that is easily accessible to visitors, with nearby stops for public transport and sufficient parking space for cars.
