MILWAUKEE 04 May 2018 – The Philippines provided the setting for the Peter Eisner WWII book, “MacArthur’s Spies,” and was highlighted along with its main characters during a luncheon event as part of the MacArthur Memorial Week honoring the legacy of Gen. Douglas MacArthur and his family.
Philippine Consul General in Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin attended the Kiwanis-sponsored lecture at the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center and thanked Ms. Creamheld Pepito, Filipino-American member of the Board of Directors of the War Memorial Center for her singular efforts that helped raise the community’s profile.
Aside from speaking with Mr. Eisner, she also had the chance to meet a Filipino WWII veteran who served with the Allied Intelligence Bureau, Louis Crisostomo and his family, including his grandson, Michael Hey, a multi-awarded concert organist and Assistant Director of Music at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City.
The Consul General also pushed for the Ambassadors’ Tour and discussed future collaborative endeavors with other Filipino community leaders representing the Philippine Cultural and Civic Center Foundation. After the event, they accompanied her in visiting the permanent MacArthur exhibit at the War Memorial Center that prominently features the Philippines as occupying a dominant place in the life of Gen. Douglas MacArthur. END
