TORONTO 04 May 2018 — Consul General General Rosalita S. Prospero hosted a meet and greet with young and budding Filipino-Canadian writers based in the Greater Toronto Area at the Consulate’s conference room on 26 April 2018. The meet and greet was a prelude to the event being arranged by the Consulate in May-a dialogue between these young writers and Hon. Virgilio S. Almario, Chair of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts(NCCA) and National Artist for Literature. Chair Almario will fly to Toronto, Canada to inaugurate the Sentro Rizal Toronto on May 12 and attend the Ugnayan sa Canada Youth Forum to be held on the same day.
Consul General Prospero wanted to meet with these budding writers beforehand to orient them about the main event in May as well as to catch a glimpse of their bodies of work. During the meet and greet, some of the writers delivered excerpts from their works. The event was also in line with the objective of the Consulate to further engage Filipino-Canadian youth in the Greater Toronto Area. END
