Consul General Rosalita Prospero delivers her Welcome Remarks during the launch of the Bata to Batapreneur at PCG Toronto on 27 April 2018.
TORONTO 04 May 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto (PCG Toronto) successfully hosted the launch of the Bata to Batapreneur, a business fair for children and youth of Filipino descent residing in Ontario on 27 April 2018.
The business fair was conceptualized and organized by b2Bpreneur, a non-profit organization established by two social entrepreneurs “based on the belief that parents and the community have a shared accountability in raising financially and socially responsible children.”
In her Welcome Remarks, Consul General Rosalita Prospero informed that the huge population of children and young adults in the Filipino Community has encouraged the Consulate to reach out and engage them. The business fair provides the youth a venue to experience being entrepreneurs – developing products and services based on their interests and goals and marketing these to the public.
The b2Bpreneur founders, Janet Lim and Christine Santos explained, that during the fair, the participating children and youth, ages 6 to 18 years old, will not only sell their self-developed products and services but will also learn from guest speakers who will share their successful endeavors with the participants.
The launch was attended by representatives from the Filipino communities in Toronto, Hamilton and Kingston, as well as supporters of the project including the PCG Toronto Trade Office, Philippine Chamber of Commerce in Toronto and Royal Bank of Canada.
The business fair will be held in North York, Toronto on 7 July 2018 and details of the event can be found at www.bata2batapreneur.com. END
