GUANGZHOU 04 May 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Guangzhou conducted a financial literacy seminar for members of the Filipino community on 21 April. Atty. Ira Paulo Pozon, CEO of Caucus, Inc. and formerly with the Office of the Vice President, was the resource person for the seminar.

Atty. Pozon discussed typical Filipino spending habits, and gave practical tips and techniques for maintaining a balanced budget, ensuring savings, and managing financial expectations of family in the Philippines while one works abroad.

A lively question-and-answer session followed, during which participants posed questions on how to go about properly investing savings, how to set up a basic budget, and what the best ways are to ensure a reliable amount of savings, among others.

Newly-arrived Consul General Marshall Louis M. Alferez also informed participants about government efforts to help overseas Filipinos make the most of their benefits and savings.

The consulate general also took the opportunity to conduct its ongoing registration of Filipinos in its jurisdiction, as well as of overseas voters for the upcoming election. A total of 12 voters were registered during the event. END
