11 December 2013- The Philippine Embassy in Beirut held a private screening of the multi-awarded Filipino film “Kailangan Kita” starring Aga Muhlach and Claudine Barreto, as part of its cultural and tourism promotion on November 27.  This was the first time that the Embassy held a film showing in the new Chancery building. Select members of the diplomatic corps and representatives from Lebanese ministries, international organizations and NGOs were invited.

In her welcome remarks, Ambassador Leah Basinang-Ruiz gave a brief highlight of the history of the Philippine cinema, also citing a number of Filipino films, which were shown or successfully competed in prestigious film festivals around the world like in Berlin, Cannes, Venice, Vienna and Rotterdam.

After watching the film, the guests expressed their appreciation, citing the excellent performance of the artists particularly during emotion-filled dialogues and scenes, and also enjoyed snacking on pancit and turon. END
