PH Health, Wellness Industry Promoted at Fiestahan 2018

DUBAI 10 May 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai, the Department of Tourism’s Office of Medical and Travel and Wellness Tourism Office, and Kabayan Weekly, a Filipino newspaper in Dubai, co-organized Fiestahan 2018 at Roda Al Bustan Hotel in Dubai on 28 April.

The event culminated the Philippines’ participation in the Arab Travel Market 2018 held from 22 to 25 April 2018. Fiestahan 2018 aims to promote the Philippines health and wellness industry to the Arabian market, particularly the healing practices that are part of country’s long history and tradition of wellness. 

In his opening remarks, Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes welcomed initiatives to promote the Philippines’ tourism industry. The Philippines boasts of a number of world renowned tourist spots such as Boracay, Cebu, and Palawan, that offer incomparable holiday experience.  With the growing number of health conscious international tourists, the country is also set to position itself as health and wellness destination that promotes overall well-being.

Ms. Cathy Turvill of Nature Spa provided a background on hilot, the country’s famous touch therapy. 

Filipino artists, Elmo Magalona, Janella Salvador, and members of the iconic Filipino band, The Dawn, entertained the guests with their unique brand of Filipino music. Fashion guru Rene Salud regaled the crowd with his Tapestry Collection. END
