PH Dance Troupe Participates in the Dai Co Viet State Celebration
HANOI 10 May 2018 — Sining Kumintang ng Batangas, a Filipino dance company, represented the Philippines in various activities in celebration of the 1050th Anniversary of the Dai Co Viet State in Ninh Binh Province, Vietnam held from 25 April to 30 April 2018. The dance company was one of several performing arts groups representing ASEAN countries, which included Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand. All groups were invited by the People's Committee and Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ninh Binh Province. The Anniversary was held in honor of the establishment of Dai Co Viet as the first centralized feudal state in Vietnam, which was in power from 968 to 1010 A.D. The ancient capital of Hoa Lu, one of the famous historical sites in Ninh Binh Province, was the first capital city of Vietnam.Second Secretary and Consul Dean Jason N. Arriola witnessed the opening performance by Sining Kumintang ng Batangas at the Parade held at Dinh Tien Hoang Square in Ninh Binh City on 27 April 2018, in which both the tinikling and Fiesta Pilipinas were featured. Sining Kumintang ng Batangas has also been a recipient of the Performing Arts Grant from the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). Following its receipt of the award, the dance company has been a regular participant in annual and special productions and festivals hosted by the CCP. END
