PH Embassy in Damascus Bats for Greater Protection for OFWs

DAMASCUS 10 May 2018 – Charge d’ Affaires en pied and Consul General to the Syrian Arab Republic, Alex V. Lamadrid, paid courtesy calls on the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs, H.E. Rima al-Qadri on 07 May 2018, as well as the Deputy Minister of Interior Gen. Hassan Maarouf and Chief of Passport and Immigration Department, Gen. Naji Al Numair on 02 May 2018, to lobby for greater protection for Filipino nationals working in Syria.

Noting the developments in the security situation in Syria, CDA Lamadrid expressed appreciation for the Syrian government’s continuing efforts and assistance in the repatriation of distressed Filipino workers.

CDA Lamadrid also exchanged views with the Syrian officials on measures to promote greater protection of Filipino workers, and the effective implementation of the deployment ban of OFWs to Syria. END
