JEDDAH 16 May 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah launched two projects on 12 May to improve its consular services. The first project is a queuing system for the Releasing Section of the Consulate. The equipment for the queuing system was donated by the OFW Council of Leaders (OCL), an umbrella organization comprising several Filipino community organizations in Jeddah. The project will help make the release of passports and other consular documents faster and more systematic.

The second project is the setting up of courier services within the Consulate General. Under this project, courier companies will be given a space in the Consulate General’s waiting area to offer their services. Payment of fees will still be done at the respective offices of the companies outside the Consulate. The project is expected to make it more convenient for OFWs, especially those outside Jeddah, to collect their new passports and other consular documents as they would not have to come back to the Consulate to pick up these documents. The documents will be conveniently delivered to their home or office by the courier company.

The launching of the two projects coincided with the conduct of the Post Arrival Orientation Seminar for OFWs and Consultative Workshop with FILCOM Representatives. END
