12 December 2013 – The Philippine Franchising Association (PFA), headed by Mr. Samie Lim, Chairman Emeritus and President of the Canadian Tourism and Hospitality Institute and composed of Mr. Jake Santos, Project Manager; and Mr. Richard Backstrom, Head of International Franchising and Business Development of Pancake House Center, participated in the World SME Expo held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center in Wan Chai from December 5 to 7.

The SME Expo provided exhibitors with explore market and franchise opportunities and interact with businessmen from all over the world. A Franchising Summit  presented visitors with opportunities from international brands and associations from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland, the USA, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Taiwan and Thailand. Mr. Samie Lam spoke on behalf of the Philippines where he highlighted the strengths of the Philippine market for foreign investors and franchise brands, e.g., rising purchasing power, expanding cosmopolitan tastes and exposure to western culture. He also showcased the success of Philippine brands in other countries such as Asia  and the Middle East. 

The Philippine Franchising Association booth also featured Franchise Asia scheduled in July 16 to 20, 2014 in Manila which will host conferences, an exhibition and educational seminars aimed at harnessing entrepreneurs. END
