PH Consulate General in Milan Participates in Santacruzan in Milan
Consul General Irene Susan B. Natividad delivers her remarks at the end of the mass to thank the organizers of the annual Santacruzan in Milan, Italy.
MILAN 25 May 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Milan, Italy, led by Consul General Irene Susan B. Natividad was given an opportunity to revisit an important Catholic tradition in the Philippines during the month of May by joining the Santacruzan in Milan on 13 May 2018.
Organized by the parish of the Santa Maria del Carmine Church, the Santacruzan featured some 31 reynas, including the famous Reyna Elena. The event drew hundreds of pious Filipinos who came to join the procession and the celebration of the Holy Mass. The Consulate General’s contingent, led by Consul General, consisted of 19 members who donned barong and Filipino outfit for the occasion.
The procession of the reynas in their colorful Filipiniana attire in the streets around the church caught the attention of curious onlookers.
In her brief remarks near the end of the holy mass, Consul General Natividad thanked the organizers for inviting the Consulate to participate in the event. She added that the Filipino community can count on the Consulate’s support to promote Philippine traditions such as the Santacruzan that not only fulfills the spiritual needs of Filipinos but is also a manifestation of the richness of Philippine culture.
