Philippines, UAE Affirm Strong Bilateral Ties During PH Ambassador’s Farewell Visits

ABU DHABI 24 May 2018 – The Philippines and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) affirm the strong bilateral ties between the two countries.
“The two countries have enhanced cooperation in political, economic, cultural and people-to-people ties,” Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates Constancio R. Vingno, Jr. said.
Ambassador Vingno paid courtesy visits to bid his official farewell to three key officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
“I expressed my deep appreciation for the unwavering support given to me and to the Philippines by the Ministry and the Government during my stint as Ambassador to the UAE,” Ambassador Vingno reported.
Since assuming his post on 28 October 2015, Ambassador Vingno has played a key role in the comprehensive development of bilateral relations between the Philippines and the UAE which is reflected in the number of high-level visits from ministries and sectors of both nations.
Ambassador Vingno also helped facilitate the signing of landmark agreements between the two countries and enhanced cooperation in political, economic and trade, culture and tourism, and people-to-people ties.
Ambassador Vingno has also looked after the welfare of more than 600,000 Filipinos in the UAE.
“Looking after the welfare of our Kababayans was the most challenging but also the most rewarding aspect of my tenure as Philippine envoy,” added the Ambassador.
The Ambassador reported that the three UAE officials thanked him for his hard work, cooperation and commitment to enhancing bilateral relations between the Philippines and UAE. He also reported that their offices will continue to work with the Philippine Missions in promoting and strengthening political, economic and community relations between the two countries.
The end of his assignment in the UAE caps a long and storied public service career of Ambassador Vingno, spanning more than 40 years in the Department of Foreign Affairs. END
