Dubai’s Top Supermarkets to Import More PH Food Products

DUBAI 08 June 2018 – Twenty-seven representatives of the top food retail and importation businesses in the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) participated in the IFEX Philippines, the country’s biggest international food trade exhibition, at the World Trade Center in Manila on 25 to 27 May 2018.
Philippine Consul General in Dubai Paul Raymund P. Cortes led the UAE contingent, composed of top UAE distribution companies and supermarkets such as Al Maya, Carrefour, Lulu Group, Choithram, and West Zone.
The Business executives from the UAE also conducted business to business meetings with several food exporters from the Philippines, including Purefoods, Mama Sita, and Century, as well as Filipino small-and medium-sized enterprises.
The UAE business executives present hope to import more Philippine food products into the UAE, noting the considerable size and influence of the Filipino market in the Gulf country. Many estimate the Filipino population in the UAE at around 700,000 to 800,000.
IFEX Philippines is the country’s biggest international trade exhibition on local and specialty foods, tropical fruits, vegetables, seafood, beverages, bakery and confectionery products, meat and poultry, and Halal-certified products. According to Department of Trade and Industry’s Center for International Trade Exposition and Missions, it is reputed as the premier business-to-business platform for local and international food companies to discover new markets, launch new products, and transact with the world’s biggest buyers.
