PH Consulate General in Dubai Honors 10 Overseas Filipino Moms

DUBAI 08 June 2018 – The Philippine Consulate General in Dubai held its second Ulirang Ina Awards for overseas Filipino mothers on 18 May 2018, in celebration of Mother’s Day 2018.

Consul General Paul Raymund P. Cortes and spouse Dr. Yasmin Cortes awarded some ten overseas Filipinos, at a ceremony held at the Philippine Consulate General’s Rizal Hall. Around 200 members of the Filipino community were present to witness the Consulate’s 2^nd Mother’s Day activity, which it first organized in May 2017.

The ten awardees were as follows:

1. Norma Sanita – Household worker and a cleaning company owner
2. Josephine Gonzales Buaya – Household worker
3. Yolanda De Jesus – Household worker
4. Jennifer Velasco – School Bus attendant
5. Clarisa Dorado - Household worker
6. Teresita Uy - Household worker
7. Generosa Usi - Accountant
8. Florencia Respende – Nanny to grandchildren
9. Irenea Silva - Household worker
10. Clarita Barabon - Nanny to grandchildren

The Consulate received around 30 nominations from the Filipino community for the Ulirang Ina Awards. The awardees received gifts and other services from various Filipino businesses in Dubai. END
