13 December 2013- Yemeni President, H.E. Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi received Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Migrant Workers Affairs Jesus Yabes in Sanaa on December 11, and conveyed condolences from the Yemeni people in a letter addressed to the Philippine President Benigno Aquino III.
The letter conveyed condolences and also expressed regret that “these friends who were providing a service to life and humanity would be subject of this tragedy perpetrated by elements who are enemies of human morality and civility…We convey our sincere condolences to the families of the victims and we will not forget their noble deeds in the service of Yemen.”
Undersecretary Yabes was joined by Philippine Ambassador Ezzedin Tago and Philippine Honorary Consul Mr. Mohamad Al-Jamal. The meeting was also attended by Yemeni Foreign Ministry Director General, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Montasser and other high-ranking officials from the Yemeni President’s office.
During the meeting, President Hadi conveyed his personal and his people’s condolences, while condemning the incident at the Ministry of Defence Hospital, which took the lives of several Filipinos.
Undersecretary Yabes also conveyed condolences for the Yemeni victims and expressed support for Yemen’s fight against terrorism.
Earlier, the Undersecretary was received at the Presidential Palace Complex by the Yemeni Presidential Adviser on Defence and Security Affairs, Major General Ali Mohsin Saleh.
Gen. Ali Mohsin condemned the terrorist act that took the lives of seven Filipinos, and expressed deepest condolences to the Philippine government, people and especially the families of the victims. END
