PH Ambassador Meets with Mayor of Historic Dutch City of Delft

THE HAGUE 08 June 2018 — Philippine Ambassador to the Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda—accompanied by officials of the Philippine Embassy in The Hague First Secretary and Consul Shirley E. Banquicio and Trade Attaché Ms. Ma. Helen B. Operio—paid a visit and called on Delft City Mayor Marja van Bijsterveld on 31 May 2018.
The meeting highlighted the ongoing and active cooperation between the Philippines and the Netherlands in the field of business.
Deltares, a Delft-based leading water and subsurface infrastructure company, currently implements coastal water management projects in the Philippines.
Filipino students, on the other hand, are presently enrolled at the IHE-Delft Institute for Water Education, the only water institute in the world, to further their knowledge and expertise on water-related issues back in the Philippines.
The historic Dutch city of Delft is the birthplace of the famous painter Johannes Vermeer, and “Father of International Law” Hugo Grotius. Delft is also known for its world-famous blue pottery, which is accorded with utmost importance by the Dutch Royal Family. END
