VIENNA 06 June 2018 — In observance of National Heritage Month, the Philippine Embassy in Vienna organized a lecture entitled “Philippine Symbols: Going Back to the Basics” for young Filipinos and Filipino-Austrians who were born or were brought up in Austria, and are interested to know more about their Filipino heritage.
According to Ambssador to Austria Ma. Cleofe R. Natividad, the lecture, which was attended by children aged eight to 15, generated a very lively discussion on the matter of unofficial and official Philippine symbols.
The program served as a precursor to the Embassy’s “Paaralan sa Pasuguan” project, a series of educational lectures that revolves about all things Filipino: cuisine, history, language and the arts.
The lecture also underscored the value of branding, and the importance of choosing the right national symbols to represent the country and its people. END
