On Migrant Workers’ Day, PH Ambassador Renews Commitment to OFWs in Italy

ROME 13 June 2018 — The Philippine Embassy in Rome, together with some Filipino workers, celebrated Migrant Workers’ Day with a flag-raising ceremony inside Embassy premises on 11 June 2018.

In his message to the Filipino community in Italy, Philippine Ambassador to Italy Domingo P. Nolasco explained that the occasion should be a reminder to the Philippine government and the Filipino people of the contributions of overseas Filipinos to the country, and to government personnel of their renewed commitment to serve them well.

Ms. Haney Lynn Siclot, Philippine Labor Attache to Rome, read the message of Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III to all overseas Filipinos, highlighting their sacrifices and heroism for their respective families and for the country. Ms. Siclot also announced more skills trainings being lined up for Filipino workers in Italy this year.

As part of the celebration, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Rome gave out raffle prizes consisting of free remittance services from I-Remit company, 10 boxes of various kitchen wares, five t-shirts, and as consolation prices from the Social Security Services. END
