Athens consular outreach in NIcosia

13 December 2013- The Philippine Embassy in Athens sent a five-member Embassy team to Nicosia, Cyprus from December 6 to 8 to meet the Filipino community and render consular mobile services there. Embassy personnel were able to process 528 passport applications, five reports of birth, eight Affidavits and 600 Pag-IBIG transactions.

The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA) also took the opportunity to provide information to Filipinos on the Philippine government's programs designed to empower overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their  families in the Philippines, through skills enhancement trainings, seminars, other programs and benefits available to OWWA members and their loved ones. A Pag-IBIG representative likewise provided pertinent information regarding its programs.

The Filipino community in Nicosia expressed their gratitude for the Embassy's effort in touching base with them. There are about 16,000 Filipinos working in Cyprus. END
