PH Consulate General in Agana, Laguna Association of Guam Celebrate Jose Rizal’s 157^th Birth Anniversary

AGANA 26 June 2018 — The Philippine Consulate General in Agana and the Laguna Association of Guam (LAG) commemorated the 157^th birth anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal with a flag and wreath-laying ceremony at the Dr. Jose Rizal Shrine, Official Residence of Consul General Marciano R. De Borja in Jonestown, Tamuning, Guam on 19 June 2018.   

Congressman Salvador B. Belaro Jr, Assistant Majority Leader and 1-Ang Edukasyon Party-List Representative, graced the occasion as guest-of-honor and keynote speaker.

Members of the Micronesia Masonic Lodge #173 F&AM (Freemasons of Guam) led by 34th Guam Legislature Senator Joe. S. San Agustin and Lodge Secretary Jose Arthur D. Chan, and members of the University of the Philippines Alumni-Guam led by President Dante Perez were also in attendance.

The program started with the singing of the Philippine National Anthem by Ms. Agatha de Borja, daughter of Consul General De Borja.

The reminder of the program continued inside the residence with the opening remarks from Ms. Vera Cruz followed by the messages of Consul General de Borja and Congressman Belaro, Ms. Agatha de Borja’s rendition of “Isang Lahi,” audio visual presentation on the history and construction of the official residence of the Consul General, and video clips on Dr. Jose Rizal’s life.  END
